Civil Law
Full-service civil litigation — recovery suits, injunctions, specific performance, partition, possession and declaration — before the district courts of Delhi and Gurugram and the Delhi High Court.
Civil disputes decide what is often the most valuable thing a family or business owns: money, land, a house, a partnership. This chamber practises civil law the traditional way — mastery of pleadings, evidence and procedure with a modern, commercially minded approach to settlement and costs.
What we handle
- Recovery suits — unpaid loans, invoices, supply contracts and dishonoured negotiable instruments where a civil suit is preferable to a Section 138 prosecution.
- Specific performance of contracts — enforcing agreements to sell immovable property when the seller reneges.
- Permanent and temporary injunctions — stopping illegal construction, encroachment, disposal of suit property and breach of negative covenants.
- Partition and family property disputes — division of ancestral and self-acquired property, coparcenary rights, and questions under the Hindu Succession Act (including the 2005 amendment giving daughters equal coparcenary rights).
- Possession, declaration and cancellation — suits against forged sale deeds, fraudulent mutations and land-grabbing transactions.
- Torts and damages — negligence, defamation and nuisance claims.
Courts of practice
The chamber appears before the district court complexes of Delhi (Saket, Patiala House) and Gurugram, and before the High Court of Delhi in appeals, revisions and other matters within its jurisdiction.
How we build your case
Every civil suit is won or lost on documents. On engagement, we:
- Map the paper trail — title records, agreements, payments, correspondence, revenue entries.
- Test limitations — the Limitation Act is unforgiving; we confirm your claim is alive before you spend on it.
- Choose the right relief — sometimes an injunction outperforms a damages claim; sometimes arbitration or mediation is faster and cheaper.
- Draft for trial — pleadings written with cross-examination already in mind.
- Protect the asset — interim applications, caveats and attachments, so that a winning decree is actually collectable/enforceable.
Practical note: If you are being sued, the 30 days you get to file a written statement matter enormously — courts now enforce strict timelines. Contact the chamber the moment you receive summons.
Interim relief often decides civil litigation. The first 30 days of a suit — jurisdiction, valuation, injunction — are where cases are won.
